Carbon Black

Carbon Black is used to improve mechanical properties, increase hardness and give black color in rubber pastes. It is for pigment and reinforcement in automobile tires. Carbon black also helps keep heat away from the tread and belt area, reducing thermal damage and extending tire life. They are classified as N100 – N900 series, and increasing N number indicates decreased surface area and increased grain size. As the grain size increases, the carbon black mixing time, wear resistance and hardness decrease.
